John William "Billy" Stewart was born on Jan. 1, 1928 and passed away on Jan. 31, 2015 at the age of 87. There will be a memorial service held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at the Mer Rouge United Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at the Mer Rouge Cemetery.

Billy Stewart was a life long residence of Morehouse Parish and was a retired farmer and entrepreneur from Mer Rouge. He loved the land, and he loved his family. He won the hearts of all with his winning smile and his great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stewart of Mer Rouge and his wife of 60 years, Annie Wells Stewart; his son, Rodney Glenn Stewart; his brother, Charles Stewart and his sister, Juanita Stewart Sibley and granddaughter Jeannie Stewart.
He is survived by his sons, Neal Stewart and partner Alan Carrel of Dallas, Texas; Jerry and Holly Stewart of Austin, Texas; sisters, Virginia Stewart Anderson of Topeka, Kansas and Maribel Stewart Ellender of Sulphur.
