Funeral services for Mrs. Kathryn Cox "Kat" McKinnie will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at the funeral home.

Kathryn Cox McKinnie was born April 2, 1939 in Mer Rouge to the late William Malcolm Cox Jr. and Ida Lee Bearden Cox. She passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge.

Kathryn was a former nurse with International Paper Company's "Old Bastrop Mill" and later retired as an industrial nurse. "Kat" loved her flower garden and enjoyed a good laugh. Most of all she loved her family and friends the most. She lived to make them happy.

Mrs. McKinnie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Christopher Lane McKinnie; her sister, Linda Cox Hightower; and a brother, William Shelby Cox.

Mrs. McKinnie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy Ray McKinnie of Gonzales; her daughter, Lee McKinnie of Gonzales; a son, Todd McKinnie of Bastrop; four grandchildren, Laramie McKinnie, Gracie McKinnie, Hunter McKinnie and Mitchell McKinnie; a brother, Barney Cox and his wife, Barbara Cox of Gonzales; and a host of extended family.

Serving as pallbearers are Ted Parker, Fred Laing Jr., Dyar Eppinette, Steven Cox, Mark Cox and Jep Butler Sr. Honorary pallbearers are Lynn Eppinette and Charlie Cox.
