Funeral services for Lawrence L. Bennett, Sr. of Sterlington, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Mikey Cheshier officiating. Interment will follow at Bastrop Memorial Park in Bastrop under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
Mr. Bennett was born on December 18, 1925 in Baskin, LA and passed away on February 2, 2016 in Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Reynolds Bennett (mother of his children), and Ruth Twiner Bennett. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a member of the downtown Lions Club for almost 60 years, was a retired accountant from A& L M Railroad, a division of Graphic Packaging, and was a member of New Destiny Assembly of God, formerly Collegetown Assembly, and served as a Deacon and Board member and was Secretary Treasure for many years.
He is survived by his sons, Lawrence L. Bennett, Jr. and wife, Mildred and Charles David Bennett and wife, Cherrie; daughters, Peggy Bennett Madison and husband, Larry and Wanda Bennett Bonnett and husband, Russell; 9 grandchildren, Lawrence (Larry) L. Bennett, III and wife, Jessica, Ken Bennett and wife, Nancy, Scott Bennett, Neil Bonnett and wife, Phyllis, Sharon Vaupel and husband, Tim, Stephanie Cage and husband, Troy, Jamie Madison and wife, Diane, Charles (Danny) Bennett and wife, Anna, and Jason Bennett and wife, Sandy; 18 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and special friend, Helen Morgan.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Bennett's grandsons.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
