Lillian Laird Duff departed for her eternal home with Jesus on April 30, 2014 at Pinehills Health and Rehab, Camden, Ark., after a brief illness. Born on June 22, 1926 to Clarence and Eliza Laird, she was a 1944 graduate of Mangham High School. She was an employee of Western Union during the WWII and worked in various offices in Louisiana and Arkansas. Lillian married E. B. Duff in Columbia on May 5, 1946.
She was a very talented lady who loved to grow beautiful flowers and vegetables, which she joyfully shared with family and friends. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilt maker. Not only was she a very talented painter, but she was also a writer of a published book and many beautiful songs about the Lord. Most importantly, she was a Christian daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, neighbor and friend. Her life was an example of 'what Jesus would do.' She will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her husband E. B. Duff Jr., and her infant great grandson John Bowden Kitchens.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Niemeir (Gil) of Camden, Ark. and Judy Aswell (Eugene, deceased) of Bastrop; her sisters, Margie Buffington (Ray, deceased) of Fruitvale, Texas and Sue Metcalf (Leroy) of Choudrant; a grandson, Carl Kitchens Jr. of Camden, Ark.; three granddaughters, Katherine McGurk (Guy) and Mary McLemore (Chantz) both of Bastrop and Rebecca Aswell of Beaumont, Texas; three great-granddaughters, Suzanne and Destiny Kitchens of Camden, Ark. and Oriana McLemore of Bastrop; a great-grandson, Jordan McLemore, of Bastrop and many nieces and a nephew.
