Funeral services for Mrs. Lois McDowell Harrelson, 85, of Bastrop will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at First United Methodist Church in Bastrop with the Rev. Mark Benge officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 3 at Golden Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Monday at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Elizabethtown, N.C.

Mrs. Harrelson, a homemaker, passed away Monday, December 1, 2009 in Shreveport. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member of United Methodist Women's Organization, and a member of the church choir. Mrs. Harrelson was commonly known as "The Banana Lady", due to her weekly visits to area nursing homes delivering bananas and cookies to residents.
She is preceded in death by her husband, McLeod Harrelson; sister, Vivian McDowell; and parents, John A. and Lois M. McDowell.
Mrs. Harrelson is survived by three sons, John A. Harrelson and wife Bethany of Dayton, Texas, Dr. Gary B. Harrelson and wife Lisa of Opelika, Ala., Paul M. Harrelson and Sanda of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Jean Sanderson of Jackson, Tenn., Carolyn Walters of Union Springs, N.Y.; five grandchildren, John Harrelson, Logan Harrelson, Caleb Harrelson, Alex Harrelson, Whitt Harrelson; and great grandchild, Alexander T. Harrelson.
