Funeral services for Margaret Kitchens Porter, age 86, of Mer Rouge will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel, Bastrop with the Rev. Jimbo Herring and the Rev. Jimmie Herring officiating the service. Burial will be in the Carter Cemetery in Collinston.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
Mrs. Porter was born July 12, 1924 in Newton, Miss. and died November 4, 2010 at Morehouse General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Robert Porter; daughter-in-law, Laura Porter; father, W. E. Kitchens; mother, Jelvie Kitchens and a sister, Aljean Boatner.
Survivors include a son, Dr. James M. Porter and his wife Lorri of Nesbit, Miss; son, Randall Porter of Austin, Texas; daughter, Connie Mathews and her husband, Jack of Mer Rouge; grandson, James M. Porter Jr. and his wife Lori of Nesbit, Miss; granddaugher, Michelle Roberts and her husband Cliff of Byhalia, Miss; granddaughter, Ginger Daughtry and her husband Dan of Orlando, Florida; grandson, Cpt Joshua Mathews and his wife Jaimie of Quantico, Va.; granddaughter, Cheyenne Mathews of Mer Rouge; grandson, Christopher Porter of Austin, Texas; grandson, Luke Porter of Austin, Texas; grandson, Marcus Porter of Austin, Texas; grandson, Jed Porter of Nesbit, Miss; granddaughter, Jami Porter of Nesbit, Miss; seven great-grandchildren; Noah Roberts, Nick Roberts, Cuyler Daughtry, Adalyn Daughtry, Emery Daughtry, Walker Porter and Addison Mathews; brother, W. P. Kitchens of Bastrop; brother, Arvell Kitchens of Universal City, Texas; sister, Zana Ezerneck of Monroe; sister, Barbara Sellin of Ortonville, Minn.; sister, Helen Mayo of Pell City, Ala.; sister, Alvene Turner of Bastrop and daughter-in-law, Mary Palada Jerkins of Olive Branch, Miss.
Pallbearers will be James Porter, Cpt Joshua Mathews, Christopher Porter, Luke Porter, Jed Porter and Chris Elms.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Marcus Porter and Cliff Roberts.
