Nan Dalton Pipes Droke left this life on Thursday, July 2, 2009. She
was born November 1, 1943 in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana to Thelma and
Williamson Pipes. She was a graduate of Bastrop High School and
attended Ole Miss University and Louisiana Tech where she was active
in Phi Mu Sorority. Her secretarial career was in Texas, and it was
there she met and married the love of her life, Jesse Jake Droke. She
was a member of the First Christian Church of Portland. The last few
months of her life were spent with pancreatic cancer, which she faced
with courage and grace.

The family would like to express appreciation to the fine staff of
Lighthouse Hospice, Dr. Jerome Lee Sang, and the staff at Trisun
Coastal Palms Care Center in Portland, Texas, where she was tenderly
cared for.

She leaves behind husband, Jake; son David Broughton; brother Windsor
Pipes; sister Lydia Roane, as well as Don and Karen Droke; several
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at the
First Christian Church in Portland. Interment followed in San
Patricio Memorial Gardens.
