Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Porter were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Reverend Phillip McCready officiated the services. Interment was at Christ Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Norma Edith Porter was born December 31, 1932 in Bastrop to the late Aubrey Charles Patterson and Annie Holland Patterson Cockrell. She passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2014 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. Mrs. Porter was a member of the White Avenue Baptist Church and a retired office manager for Dr. Flood Garrett. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry "Bo" Porter; her daughter, Karen Whitlock; and siblings, Ray Patterson and Shirley Gautreaux.
Norma's life centered around her family. It brought her much joy. She loved each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. Her family was her life and she loved them all.
Mrs. Porter is survived by her two sons, Randy Porter and his wife, Paula, and Charles Porter and his wife, Kim; and a son-in-law, Roger Whitlock. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bo Porter, Justin Porter and his wife, Becca, Ashlie Hill and her husband, Chris, Staci Yokem and her husband, Jeff, Nikki Whitlock, Hollie Joiner and her husband, Jimmy, Erika Sutherlin and her husband, Tim, and Whit Whitlock and his wife, Tammy; and 21 great-grandchildren, Austin, Lauren, and Andrew Yokem, Kacey, Ryan, and Emily Porter, Hannah, Brooke, and Payge Hill, Brooks, Bethany, and Roan Joiner, Megan, Katherine, Beau, and Katelyn McQuillen, Madison and Cooper Tucker, Whitney Beth Whitlock, and Hunter and Fisher Binns.
Serving as pallbearers will be Max Watters, Thomas Bachman, Mike Quinn, Brad Bradshaw, Korea Davis, and Sedarrin Freeman.
The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to the nurses and staff at Cherry Ridge Guest Care for the care and attention shared with our mother during her time there.
