The funeral service for Mrs. Norma L. Atwell is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015, in the chapel of Golden Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmie Yocum officiating. Interment will follow in Bonne-Idee Cemetery under the direction of Golden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

Mrs. Atwell, a farmer and homemaker who was dearly loved by her family, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the age of 81. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she was very active in all areas of the church including being the church secretary and a Sunday school teacher. She was a hard worker all her life and helped manage the farm. She was also known as a great cook who loved everyone. You never went hungry at her house.

Mrs. Atwell is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Vadis B. Atwell; daughters, Bonita E. Sliger and husband James H., Rhonda K. Little and husband Stephen B., Anita J. Furgason and husband Clint; son, Harold Atwell and wife Joan; sisters, Leah Gilmore and husband Buddy, Joyce Christensen and husband Norm; brothers, Raymond McGruder, John McGruder and wife Mary Helen, Jerry McGruder and wife Diane, Robert McGruder and wife Phyllis, James McGruder and wife Ester, Fred McGruder and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Brad Atwell, Jason Sliger, Amy Sliger, Justin Atwell, Rachel Little, Seth Church; six great grandchildren and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wren and Verneal McGruder; brother, Edward L. McGruder; and grandson, Joshua Little.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Morrison, Lamar Belin, and Jerry Wolfe.
