Wamul Peacock Townsend, age 83, of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, April 2, 2015.
Born Jan. 2, 1932 at Oak Grove, she was a daughter of the late George Washington Peacock and Bernice Holland Breazeale. She was reared and educated at Oak Grove and was a graduate of Bastrop High School.
She and her family moved to Pine Bluff in 1960 when her husband was transferred by International Paper Company.
A homemaker and a seamstress, Mrs. Townsend was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, and the Gloryland Singers.
She loved her family, and enjoyed gardening, playing games and watching her grandchildren grow up.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Aden Townsend and a grandson, Brandon Lynn Stone. Mr. and Mrs. Townsend were married April 26, 1950 in Bastrop, and he predeceased her in 1983.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Townsend Stone (Gary) and Scott Townsend (Susan Byrd), all of Pine Bluff, Mike Townsend (Ginger McGaughy) and Susan Townsend Morrison (Terry) all of Little Rock; a sister, Belle Tharp of Alexandria; grandchildren, Jesse Adams (Kaylee McAfee) of East End, Seth Stone of Pine Bluff, Bryan Townsend (Erin McCullough) of Nevada, Mo., Christopher Townsend, Matthew Townsend, and Andrew Townsend, all of Little Rock, Jonathan Morrison (Amy Bledsoe) and Mick Morrison (Amber Pickett) all of Arkadelphia, and Richard Morrison (Rachael Wells) of Van Buren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 6, 2015, 10 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel with Brother Howard Loetscher and Lloyd Townsend officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Cortinez, Seth Stone, Bryan Townsend, Jesse Adams, Christopher Townsend, Matthew Townsend and Andrew Townsend.
The family wishes to express their thanks for the staff at Trinity Village Medical Center and Hospice Homecare for their loving care of Mrs. Townsend.
Memorials may be made to a , and the family will be at the home Gary and Debbie Stone.
