Funeral services for Mr. Wesley Gene McDonald will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Wuenshe and the Rev. Jerry Stuckey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the funeral home.

Wesley Gene McDonald was born November 11, 1939 in Start to the late Wilbur Johnson McDonald and Elma Bostick McDonald. He passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.

Mr. Wesley was a retired construction superintendent and a member of the Living Word Lutheran Church in The Woodlands, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, C. J. Woods; three sisters, Ethel Mae McDonald, Linda Kay McDonald, Darlene McDougald; and a brother, Eugene McDonald.

Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife, Beverly McDonald of Bastrop; four daughters, Soraya Ward and her husband, L.W. Ward, Jr., Lisa Johnson and her husband Michael Johnson all of Bastrop, Theresa Priest and her husband, David Priest of Atlanta, and Cassie Wuenshe and her husband John Wuenshe of Lebanon, Penn.; a son, Greg McDonald and his wife, Crystal McDonald of Bastrop; ten grandchildren, Corey Cooper, Jonathon Cooper, Amber Johnson-Wimbish, Nikki Priest-Woods, Derek Hunter Priest, Charlotte Rachel Wuenshe, John Wuenshe, Jr., Caleb Tyler McDonald, Austin Blaise McDonald, and Jarrett Michael McDonald; eight great-great-grandchildren, Blake, Brook, and Dawson Cooper, Jayce and Braiden Wimbish, Kaiden Priest, Payton Woods, and Gavin Priest; four sisters, Helen Marsh, Peggy Hall, Cloteal Trichell, and Pauline Greenwood; and four brothers, Ricky McDonald, Doyle McDonald, Benny McDonald, and Earl McDonald.

Serving as pallbearers are Brian Greenwood, Ronnie Marsh, Chad Greenwood, Greg Cooper, L.W. Ward, Jr., and Michael Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Greenwood, David Priest, John Wuenshe, and Vic Ragus.
