Funeral services for Mr. Woodrow McDaniel will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 201l at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with Rev. Bobby O'Fallon officiating. Interment will follow at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Woodrow McDaniel was born March 3, 1938 near Baskin, Louisiana to the late Guy Cecil McDaniel and Ellie Smith McDaniel. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home in Bastrop on October 26, 2011. Mr. McDaniel was an avid deer hunter and served in the National Guard. He worked as a mechanic with Delta Motors and Regency Motors for over 42 years. He was a sweet, gentle, and caring grandpa, daddy, and husband. He also would stop to help anyone that needed his help. Mr. McDaniel was a member of Meridian Baptist Church in Crossett, Arkansas.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife of 44 years Linda Gail McDaniel of Bastrop; his daughter, Cindy Edwards of West Monroe; his two sons, Patrick McDaniel and his wife, Misti McDaniel of West Monroe, Bro. Kevin McDaniel and his wife, Stacy McDaniel of Beekman, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Megan Thrasher and her husband, Jerry Thrasher of West Monroe, Kayla Cashion and her husband, Adam Cashion of Leander, Texas, Nick McDaniel of West Monroe, Stephanie McDaniel of Bastrop, Kenny McDaniel of Bastrop, Ryan McDaniel of West Monroe, Hunter McDaniel of West Monroe, and Rebecca McDaniel of West Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Thrasher of West Monroe, Braeden Cashion and Zella Cashion both of Leander, Texas; two sisters, Thelma Barfield of Collinston, Louisiana, Barbara Russell of Shreveport, Louisiana; brothers, Steve Stevenson and Jimmy McDaniel; and a future great-grandchild due in March.
Serving as pallbearers are Allen Jackson, Herman White, Randy Smith, Danny Jordan, David Riles, and Donnie Paxton.
Honorary pallbearers are brother, Steve Stevenson, Larry Goyne, Edgar Haynic, Donnie Kinnaird, and James Kinnaird.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Coy Gammage and his staff, the staff of Premiere Hospice, and to the United Way. For those who wish the family suggest planned memorials be made to the United Way.
