Gloria M. Beard, 82, Sugar Creek, MO, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 3, 2014, in the presence of family. Visitation will begin with the Rosary at 9 a.m. and continue until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 10113 E. Lexington, Independence, MO 64053. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary’s Cemetery.

Gloria was born October 26, 1931, the youngest child of Ernest and Maria (Santucci) Mancini. She married Kenneth L. Beard at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and they celebrated their 60th anniversary with family last April. Gloria was an active member of St. Ann’s Parish since 1959, a former president of both the PTA and Altar Society, Eucharistic minister, rosary maker, and active with many parish functions including the Spaghetti dinners in the 1970’s. Gloria expressed her creativity in her love of crafts - painting on ceramics, canvas, wood, Halloween pumpkins and ghosts, scarecrows, snowmen and Santa’s and pelicans. She enjoyed her collection of owls, many given to her by Virginia Taylor, and enjoyed classic TV shows especially Perry Mason. Gloria loved to shop for food and prepare meals for family and bake Christmas cookies. Gloria loved her family.

She missed her family and friends who had preceded her in death. She is now reunited with her parents; her sister, Catherine Glorioso; her brothers, Tony, Victor and Angelo Mancini; an infant sister; her own baby daughter, Vicki Maria Beard; nieces, Mary Ann and Patricia Glorioso; nephews, Victor Glorioso, Phillip and Anthony Abato; and many neighbors and friends from St. Ann’s.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth; her son Michael; her son Ernie and his wife Paula; four grandchildren, Angela Clasen, Nicholas Beard, Maria Beard, Michelle Beard; great-grandchild, Nikhil; her sister, Anna Piranio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Natalie Lane and to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for their loving care of our wife, mother and grandmother.
