In memory of a Father

Always present in my mind
And in your prayers
Faith is rooted in belief
Yours's never floundered
Encouragement though distant
Accompanied me each day
Thoughts of your Love
Radiated my Hope
To this understanding
Your example back then
Strengthens my will with yours
Shedding baggage I put upon myself
Listening to your advice so Holy
Coming to our reunion by all God’s
blessings

Bishop Tom was a huge part of our religious life for 45 years, he consoled us when we buried our son in 1974, baptized our youngest daughter, first communion and confirmation for both daughters, baptism for 3 grandchildren, and a constant faith giver when we needed it. We will remember Bishop Tom as one of the most wonderful human beings we've ever known.
Rest well dear friend.

Bishop Flanagan was my Pastor, Spiritual Director and a wonderful friend. After I had a personal encounter with Jesus, Father Tom guided me and encouraged me to follow Him and to continue my service to Our Lord and His Church. He was truly a man of God who fought for my soul and opened my heart to God. Our many spiritual journeys together allowed me to consecrate my life to God. I love you, Father Tom, and I ask that you continue to pray for me to accomplish the spiritual mission to which you so wonderfully guided me.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Bishop Flanagan during this difficult time. He is a beautiful Irish priest/bishop, who shared the kindness and love of the Lord, touching the lives of many people. Receiving his blessing a few years ago was a very special moment. We're certain he will rest in peace and experience the eternal glory of God's Kingdom.

Bishop Flanagan was one of the kindest

people I have ever known. He was always there for my family in our times of need. He treated my grand Catherine Wilson as his American mother. He will be greatly missed by so many. I thank his family for sharing him with us for all these years. He is surely is in the arms of Jesus. Karen Schorlemer

Bishop Tom is (he will always remain in our hearts) a cousin. I remember as a child in Brooklyn when then Fr. Tom would travel back and forth to Ireland from San Antonio. He would tower over our small refrigerator. His laugh is one of the most unique ones I have ever heard. No matter what mood you may be in, when you heard that distinctive laugh, you had a smile on your face. My brother, Fr. Dennis Cooney, was a deacon for his Ordination to Bishop. Our Mom was able to be there, even though she was suffering from dementia. The Good Lord blessed that she was able to understand what was happening. It is a memorable time that we will always share. God Bless you Bishop Tom!

I've know Bishop Flanagan, since his time at Saint Peter's in San Antonio, Texas. I was privileged to server many masses with him as an Alter Boy, at St. Peter's. Then in 1975, he married my wife Thelma and I. He also lead the rosary for my father and was my mothers funeral to give us comfort and support. One of my grandmothers would refer to him as the priest with the saintly hands. He was a wonderful priest, bishop and person. When he saw you he would greet you by name and always had a warm handshake for you. He was a classic example of what a Catholic Priest should be. Rest in Peace my friend. He was, one of our Lords gentlest souls. He will be greatly missed.

Bishops Flanagan was a fantastic priest. I always loved going to mass when he was here in Carbury. My dad Martin Brennan went to school with Bishop Flanagan and had lots of good memories of their time growing up in Carbury. RIP. Muriel Skelly.

Father Tom was the epitome of what a catholic priest should be! He was kind, thoughtful and down to earth and a wonderful role model. Whenever he saw you, he would remember your name. He shared in your joys and sorrow and was very compassionate. The Catholic Church has lost an amazing person! He will be missed!
