Charlie Beckwith

Charlie James Beckwith was born to the late James and Estella Veal Beckwith on August 31, 1938, in Columbus, MS.

Charlie confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was a member of the Church of Christ. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from the Concord Schools. He was employed for over 25 years with Beloit as a Roll Maker, where he later retired. Known to many as “Bo”, Charlie, enjoyed his carpentry with building on houses and watching his western movies.  

“Bo” departed this life on July 10, 2017, in Birmingham, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents; his children: Barbara Jean Erby and Theresa Harris; his sisters: Bernice Neal, Lillie V. Beckwith, and Corrine Givens.

“Bo” leaves to cherish his memories: his wife: Mary Ann Williams Beckwith of Columbus, MS; children: Roger Stewart of Germany, Johnny Beckwith of Philadelphia, MS, Dorothy Beckwith of Fayetteville, NC, Charlie Beckwith, Jr. of Columbus, MS, Alice Beckwith of Columbus, MS, Helen Beckwith of Columbus, MS, Susan Beckwith of Dallas, Texas, Joel (Tina) Williams of Mansfield, OH, Dr. Gilbert (Deborah) Spencer of Columbus, MS, Katie (Gerald) Holland of Glendora, New Jersey, Robert (Belinda) Spencer of Columbus, MS, Levon (Kakila) Campbell of Columbus, MS, Macarthur (Danielle) Spencer of Columbus, MS, and Bernice Spencer of Columbus, MS; his sisters: Josephine (Abraham) Roosevelt of San Francisco, CA, Rev. Emily Douglas of San Francisco, CA, and Carrie (Albert) Jackson of Milwaukee, WI; his brothers: Willie (Annie) Beckwith of St. Louis, MO, and Joseph (Betty) Beckwith of Columbus, MS; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
