Donald "Don" Monken Obituary
Donald "Don" E. Monken, 74 of Central City, passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at his home.
Don was born February 21, 1941 in Centralia, son of Louis Monken and Leona (Kroeger) Monken. He married Dorothy (Davidson) Monken in 1961 and she preceded him in death after 47 years of marriage on October 12, 2008.
He is survived by two sons: David Monken and wife Karen of Sandoval and Tim Monken and wife Sarah of Centralia; a grandson, Ryan Monken of Soulard, MO; a special friend, Wilma Stevens of Salem; three sisters: Jane Daughtery and husband Don of Centralia, Mary Long and husband Jerry of Centralia, and Delores Sanders of Centralia; two sister-in-laws: Sandy Monken of Centralia and Nancy Monken of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers: Raymond Monken and Fred Monken, and a nephew: Stephen Hail.
Don worked as a local truck driver for Centralia Cartage and ANR Freight for many years. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 50, Centralia Moose and ABATE. Don loved to ride his motorcycle with the guys and "Taz". He loved to listen to Karaoke. Most of all he loved his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia. Entombment will follow at the Hillcrest Lakeside Mausoleum in Centralia. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Centralia Humane Society and will be accepted at the Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Centralia, which is in charge of arrangements.
