Felicita C. Hernandez, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, is now in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father.
Felicita was born to Daniel and Leonor Cantu in Woodsboro, Texas on July 25th, 1933. She met and married the love of her life, Guadalupe S. Hernandez, in Mathis, Texas. They married January 24th of 1951, in which they would be blessed to celebrate 65 years of marriage. Together, this union bore thirteen children, six sons and seven daughters. Before long, they moved to Elgin, Texas where they continued to raise their family. She found joy in her heart in caring for the needs of others, and this was demonstrated by her many years of service at Elgin Headstart and the Elgin Nursing Home.
Felicita is now reunited in Heaven with her both of her parents; her husband, Guadalupe S. Hernandez; her sons Frank and Ramiro Hernandez; and her daughter Janie Diaz.
Felicita is survived by her four sons, Ruben Hernandez and wife Brenda, Simon Hernandez, Jimmy Hernandez and wife Cathy, Paul Hernandez and wife Christine; and six daughters, Gloria Hernandez and Juan Pruneda, Irma Castillo and husband Joe, Lupe Garcia and husband Adalberto, Nora Robles and husband Chris, Martina Mendez and husband Frank, Lucy Martinez and husband Robert; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Resendez and Aurora Resendez; and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Felicita’s most prized possession in life was the love that she committed to her family, and in her devotion to providing for all, there were no absolutely no limits. Felicita lived a life inspired by her Lord and Savior, and she leaves behind a legacy of professing a belief in one God.
The Hernandez family will receive friends at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home of Elgin, at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 15th. A celebration of Felicita’s Life will be held at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home of Elgin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 16th. Interment will follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.

My most sincere condolence to the Hernandez a family, and sisters. Even though we ceased to see each other, the memories are still here. Growing up in Mathis was very good. We saw each other often but as we grew up and formed our own family we didnt see each other as we would have liked. I will always remember you and would love to meet the family one day. May my first cousin Rest In Peace. We will see each other on Resurrection Day! Again my condolence to all.
