Frank Paison Obituary

Frank Paison, 59, died suddenly in his Merrimack, NH home on the evening of Friday, June 19, 2015.

Frank was born in Staten Island, NY, in March of 1956. The son of Arnold Paison, a career army man, Frank spent much of his adolescence moving from base to base. After New York, the ever-mobile Paisons moved to Germany, before finally settling in Medford, Massachusetts.

Frank attended Matignon High School in Cambridge, MA, where he captained both the football and basketball teams, cultivated his patently loud sense of humor, and fortunately for him, met the love of his life, Laura Mullaney. Miraculously winning the approval of Laura's seven sisters, Frank and Laura married in 1983. This past May, Frank and Laura celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary.

Frank received his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA. His higher education would later culminate in a Master's Degree from UMass Lowell in Criminal Justice.

As a police officer, Frank built a storied career that spanned more than two decades. He initially served the Baltimore Police Department before joining the force in Nashua, NH. Frank's tenure at Nashua was highlighted by his launch of the department's first K-9 unit, his work as an expert hostage negotiator for the region, and his time spent undercover in the narcotics division. Frank retired in 2003 at the rank of Detective Sergeant.

Frank was a devoted and loving father to his two children, Michelle and Brian. From the softball diamond to the basketball court, Frank was a passionate coach for his two kids throughout the length of their sporting careers. As Michelle and Brian went on to pursue their respective undergraduate and graduate degrees, Frank shifted his focus from coaching to a new favorite pastime: bragging about his kids' alma maters. "Tufts, Georgetown, Harvard, and USC" became something of a mantra for Frank.

Frank was an avid movie watcher, a lifelong dog lover, and the proud owner of a simply badass mustache.

He leaves behind his wife Laura, his children Michelle and Brian, his mother Angelina, and three sisters Frances McConnell, Faith Manning, and Angela DiTucci, and an impressive number of friends who will certainly miss his daily phone calls.

Calling hours will be in the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, from 4-8 PM. A mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack on Wednesday, June 24 at 10 AM.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Franciscan Mission Assoc., PO Box 598, Mount Vernon, NY 10551.

Dear Laurie, Michelle and Brian,
I´d like to share a memory of Frank with you. Frank went to visit my dad in the hospital. He had long hair and a beard. Dad had no clue who this man was. We all had a laugh when Dad realized Frank was his nephew. Frank was a good man. I hope your memories give you comfort.

I was thinking about Frank recently. It's still hard for me to believe he's gone. Gone way too soon. I'll always remember him as a teammate of mine for our football and basketball team. Frank really played his heart out on the field and the court. I miss him a lot.

My deepest sympathies go out to Frank's family. I hadn't seen him in many years, but that was a name I will never forget. When I was a child, I got hit by a car on Amherst st, Frank not only followed the ambulance to the hospital, but then drove me and my mom home after and carried me in the house for her. He was the best, and growing up I never forgot him....May he rest in peace...I'm so sorry for your loss.

Frank's work is ever-present and visible in Michelle and Brian and a testament to just the kind of person Frank was. My thoughts are with you and the entire family.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Frank on several jobs, and he became a great friend. I will miss the random calls and funny texts that he would send me. I know he loves his family, by how much he talked about them. He knew what was going on in my family as well, and really made me feel like I was someone he truly cared about. Frank, God bless you and your family. I still have your voicemail from a few weeks ago, and I will just imagine that you are still on the other end of the line. I know you are sitting at the right hand of God, and taking care of any evil doers with the fear you can generate just with your voice. I will never forget your stories about 70's leisure suits, your police stories, and listening to you sing to John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown band. Godspeed, my friend.

To a man I barley knew.. Thank you for showing me life and the love of good Pittsburg food. May peace be with you always my friend.

To the Paison Family-

Frank was an amazing individual. I worked with him several times in the past 11 years. He thought I was crazy, which is true, but we always had a great time working together. I have a project scheduled in the fall in Boston and I was really looking forward to seeing Frank, sharing some stories and having many laughs like we have always had. I am truly sorry for the loss of this great guy.

I played football and basketball with Frank in high school. He was tough and very competitive. My father and Mr. Paison went to a lot of our games. We shared many laughs over the years , he later became my brother in law. I was shocked to hear of his passing from my daughter Jill. I cried for awhile , thinking about memories from our past growing up together. I graduated from high school with his sister Fran. Frank was a good man, father, husband, and friend. My condolences to Laurie, Brian, Michelle and the entire Paison family. I loved Frank , a great teammate and brother in law. I hope you don't mind a funny memory of Frank from high school. He came out of the shower one day after basketball practice and we stole his clothes. He was always playing practical jokes on us. It was quite a sight seeing him walking home with only a tee shirt and long johns on in the middle of Jan. We drove by laughing stopped gave him his clothes and a ride home. Frank laughed about it too. God Bless all of you , you are in my prayers. The Foley family , Susan, Bruce, and my Mom are praying for you too.

My thoughts, prayers and love are with the entire Paison family. Especially, Laurie, Michelle and Brian. Frank your Husband/Dad, was such a wonderful Gentle Giant. I will never forget, how for the past two plus years he was here for every snow storm plowing my driveway especially this last winter when he worked so hard to find a place to put all of it! Before he would arrive he would always call to be sure I would not venture out and try to shovel myself. He would say" stay inside and keep warm". Hugs to you in Heaven Frank for all you have done for me.

Laura, Michelle and Brian. as I write this I feel a profound sadness for the loss of a truly decent man, heroic police officer and, I'm proud to say, a cherished friend. I'm sorry that we let our busy post NPD lives stop us from keeping in touch as much as I would have preferred. I always thought that we would "catch up" tomorrow. As I come to realize that there will be no tomorrows for us, the hole in my heart grows larger. I met Frank over thirty years ago when he joined the Nashua Police Department. I was blessed to spend many hours with Frank over the years. I can say without reservation that Frank was the best police officer I ever worked with. He had boundless energy and a desire to keep the citizens and other members of NPD safe. I know I always felt confident when Frank was by my side in a dangerous situation. Over the years Frank received many commendations for his police work. I can think of several heroic actions that he did not receive recognition for, but Frank was not about the medals, he truly loved police work and service to the citizens of Nashua. Police work was Frank's second love, his first love was his family. I spent many hours listening to Frank talk with justifiable pride about Michelle and Brian's athletic and academic accomplishments. When Frank spoke of his wife, I could tell Laura was the love of his life. I will miss Frank but I will always consider myself blessed for having known him and for being able to say he was my friend.

Frank was a good cop to work beside. He always had his fellow officer's backs in difficult times. I will miss his smile and sense of humor.
