Jesse Sanders, Jr. Obituary

Ludowici

Jesse Reginald Sanders Jr. "Reggie" was born August 17, 1949 in Miami, Florida to the late Doris Sherman and the late Jesse R. Sanders Sr. He spent many summers in Georgia with his friends and family. Much to the tradition of his family, he joined the United States Army on September 4, 1968 and served our country proudly as a SGT with the 34th MP DET until he was honorably discharged on July 29, 1971. During his service on April 6, 1970, while in Wuerzburg, Germany, he saw from the barracks window a child floating by in the freezing river Main. He ran outside and pulled him out of the water from the river bank, saving the 10 year old boys life. He always reflected fondly on this time, he truly loved being a solider. After his military service, he worked for the United States Government at the Dept of Public Works in Ft. Stewart, GA, he worked there until his retirement in 2003. He loved to golf, cook, hunt and watch sports.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Sanders of Ludowici, GA; daughter, Danielle Sanders of Brunswick, GA; 3 grandchildren, Emily and Maximus Alicea and Liam Matheny of Brunswick, GA; sisters, Terry Sanders and Cindy Sawyer; brothers, Samuel Sanders and Walter Newton; stepfather, Daniel Sherman, and many other friends and family.
Service with military honors will be held November 22, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Walthourville Cemetery in Walthourville, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project.

Danielle, I'm very sorry for your loss. I understand it's been a bit since your dad passed, but having lost my brother a few months back, I know that mourning doesnt stop while life moves on. and we can't fill the hole left behind by those we've lost too soon.
I will be praying for you and your family and for Gods' peace which surpasses all human understanding.
Sincerely
Andrea Rachall
