Jim Hendricks “Pete” Rowland, 83, of Norman Park, died Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Friday, September 21, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
Born November 12, 1934 in Tift County, he was the son of the late Albert Theo Rowland and Inez Mullis Rowland. Mr. Rowland was a United States Army Veteran and the owner/operator of Rowland and Mercer Garage. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. His family remembers how he enjoyed showing horses with the Georgia Federation Saddle Club and won multiple state championships awards.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dilly Mercer Rowland of Norman Park; Regenia Meister and Bill of Norman Park, Kippi Rowland El-Masri and Joe of Birmingham AL, Allen Rowland and Robbie Bell of Statesboro; grandchildren, Dexter Norman, Anna Trimble and Josey Watson; great-grandchildren, Landon Norman, Luke Norman, Rose Adcock, Mack Trimble, Brayden Watson and Jaelyn Watson; several nieces and nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Allen and Robby, my heart goes out to both of you for your tremendous loss. There are no words that can comfort in moments like this. Focus on the fact that you guys were always there for him and took time for him, just to see him, be with him, love him. Please give your mom a big hug for me. I will keep you all in my prayers and ask for strength and understanding.
