Larry Dean Fenstad was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska on March 17, 1947, and passed away at home in the loving arms of his family in Cypress, Texas on March 14, 2021, just before his 74th birthday.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Helen Fenstad. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Jo Fenstad; his two children, Keith Fenstad and wife Dawn, and Lorie Gregurek and husband Todd; grandchildren, Grace Fenstad, Grant Fenstad, Elizabeth Gregurek, and Cody Gregurek. Special thanks are extended to his niece, Karen Oliver for all her selfless love and support.
Larry enlisted into the Air Force in 1965 and married Mary Jo in 1968. They spent his last year in the service at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio before moving back to Omaha in 1969.
There, he quickly earned a job as a draftsman at Northern Natural Gas. His 33 year career in the oil and gas industry sent him and the family from Omaha to Houston in 1986 when Northern merged with InterNorth to create Enron. He proudly retired from Enron in 2001.
Larry loved getting his hands dirty, whether that be projects around the house or his prized possession, a 1935 Ford affectionately known as the “Hot Rod". He was a regular at the local weekend car shows.
Larry and Mary Jo loved to travel and to spend time with family and friends. He visited many wonderful places on road trips all across the US and several trips and cruises here and abroad with his dear friends Albert and Janice Baroski.
Beloved by his family and friends, Larry’s laugh and sense of humor will be missed by all that knew him.
Larry’s family will receive friends and loved ones from 5-8pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065. A funeral service for Larry will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Klein Funeral Home on Wortham Blvd., to be immediately followed by a committal service in Klein Memorial Park on FM2920 in Tomball, TX.
