Lenus Roy Adams was born June 8, 1956 in Fresno, CA the son of LeRoy Adams and Olene (Jenkins) Adams. He grew up in the Hugo area and graduated from Hugo High School in 1974. Lenus worked as an Assistant Manager at Walmart for many years then transitioned into the Insurance Industry where he became the District Manager. Lenus met Sheila Fennell and the two married at The First Assembly of God Church in Wright City, on June 20, 1980. They made their home in Wright City for 20 years, during this time Lenus served on the Wright City School Board. Lenus lived in the Valliant area for the past 18 years and was a member of the Swink School Board.
Lenus was a known perfectionist. His hard work ethic and ability to make anything work or look beautiful was his signature. In his later years of life, cattle ranching became the pride of his career. His cows were the best pets he ever owned. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the thrill of dropping a big buck. His hunts with his friends and family will forever be cherished. Lenus had his own way of doing things and always knew his way was the best way. He was fun loving and enjoyed to tease and pester just to get a reaction. His laugh and smile were infectious to all he encountered and he was well liked by most who met him. Lenus took great pride in his wife, children, and grandchildren. The “Adams” name was something he made sure to revere. He said “he wanted the words honest, loyal, and hardworking to always be associated with this name:” he made sure to instill these traits in his family. This was one lesson he also was taught by his father, LeRoy Adams, who preceded him in death.
Lenus is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sheila Adams; Son, Jonathan Adams and wife Shawnte of Golden, OK; Daughters, Brandy Byrd and husband Bobby of Millerton, OK and Samantha Wingfield and husband Matthew of Durant, OK; His Mother, Rev. Olene Adams of Ashdown, AR; Sister, Tammy Robertson and companion Michael Smallwood of Ben Lomond, AR; Grandchildren, Stetson Adams, Shaylen Byrd, Brayden Byrd, Addison Wingfield, Kanyon Byrd, Garett Byrd; Special friends, Mike Donovan and Eddie Horton; Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins along with many much loved family and friends.
