Mary Alice Kuder was born December 31, 1928 to Melvin and Josephine (Thompson) Lyons at the family farm southwest of Beagle, Kansas and passed away February 27, 2019 in Chanute, Kansas. At a young age Mary Alice went to live with the McKeever family in Osawatomie and assisted the family in caring for the McKeever children. It was at this time that she caught the eye of a brown eyed young man by the name of Billy Kuder. Mary Alice and Willard (Bill) Kuder were married June 30, 1945. They lived in Kansas City, MO for a short time early in their marrage and then in Osawatomie, Paola, Lane, Garnett and Chanute. Bill and Mary Alice were married more than 60 years until Bill passed away in 2009. Mary Alice was a stay-at-home mom most of her life and nothing delighted her more than when she was surrounded by her children and her grandchildren. She just loved attending the Kuder Family Reunions, it gave her a chance to see her Kuder brothers and sisters, who she dearly loved. Anyone who entered Mary Alice’s home was always made to feel welcome, she was truly a loving and caring lady that cared about everyone. Mary Alice was a member of the Baptist Church of Chanute. Mary Alice will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but oh what a “Gift” she was to all who knew her.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, foster parents Jim and Helen McKeever, brothers Ted, Johnny, Phillip, Virgil Lyons, a special brother Jim McKeever, sister Stella and a special sister Zenora McKeever.
Mary Alice is survived by her children Mike and Dawn Kuder of Chanute, Terry and Kenneth Turley of Stark, Tom and Karen Kuder of Peculiar, MO, Sandy and Steve Hughes of Weatherford, TX, Debby and John Pool of Wichita, brothers Frank Lyons of Emporia, Milo and Judy Lyons of Osawatomie, sisters Irene Croan of Chanute, Geneva Lyons of Osawatomie and a special sister and brother Clarice Stephens of Olathe, Gary McKeever of TX. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren along with a host of extended family and friends.
