Melody Ann Ray

1955 - 2015

Melody Ann Ray, 60, of Gilbertsville, PA, passed on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. She was born July 14, 1955 in Philadelphia, PA to the late William and Ruby Womack Ray.

She attended and graduated from school in the Philadelphia Area School District. After graduating, she worked as a home health aide at various sites from Step by Step to Bayada Nursing. She enjoyed working and helping others, especially those who were too embarrassed to ask for help.

Melody’s name means “music” and true to the meaning, she loved music. From old school to gospel and from Marvin Sapp to the Temptations, she enjoyed listening.

She is survived by her companion, Robert R. Holmes of Gilbertsville, PA; son, Willie Herring of Gilbertsville, PA; daughters, Stephanie Ray of Norristown, PA, Tina Ray of Darby, PA, Krystal Ray and Andrea Ray, both of Pottstown, PA, Nadiyah Bellamy of Gilbertsville, PA; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Thais Mayes of Colorado Springs, CO, Michele Ray of Las Vegas, NV, Aisha Mumin of Philadelphia, PA; brother, Matthew Ray of Philadelphia, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, James Ray on October 19, 2015; sisters, Miriam Heathe, Marinda Ray Bougherty and Mona Ray (infant sister); brothers, Marvin Ray and Morris Ray.
