Norman Purcell, Jr. Obituary

Tim Purcell, (Norman Purcell Jr.) passed away early on Saturday, August 21, 2021, in Taylor Texas. He was born on January 18, 1940, to Norman and Rubye Purcell who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lynn House Purcell, who lives in Taylor.  He was big brother to, and is survived by, his four sisters: Jan Bartlett of Georgetown, Wanda Roberts and husband Paul of Elgin, Sue Nicholson and husband Harry of Round Rock, and Pam Fuller and husband Clay of Georgetown. He is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own. Tim graduated from McCallum High School in Austin and worked for G&S Typesetters for several years before retiring. His favorite activities included gardening, cooking and entertaining in his younger years, crafting of every kind, socializing with his friends and family whether in person or by phone, and generally setting out daily to bring a smile and joy to all that he encountered.

Sentiments from family members profoundly capture the essence of who Tim was:  He was loving, a prankster, and a joke teller. He was a child at heart (closer to 8 than 80). He gave the most amazing hugs. He dearly loved his entire family along with its many extensions and frequently called “to just check on us”. He was a man of God with an abundance of love and faith. We will miss his love of Christmas and any event that brought the entire family together. But most of all we will miss his amazing, childlike heart.  Earth lost a great man, however, heaven gained another.  Tim, we miss you already and will always love you thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much.

TIm's always been such a joy to share moments with whenever we saw him. He and Lynn were always so king and sweet when they would come to our office. He was giving, kind and forever faithful. He shared books and crafts and we will always be thankful for his jokes and smile. He will be missed ! Our thoughts and prayers to Lynn and the family.

Tim was a dear, loving, and faithful friend who, though fun-loving and a great joke-teller, also loved the Lord and sought to know and understand Him and His Word and it's practical application. We spent many hours in phone conversations talking about the above and understanding God's heart and how to image Him well in everyday life situations. I will miss him as well as his "Heh, you" greetings.

Lynn, I'm so sorry for your loss, but am thankful that you were able to be together once again before Tim's promotion. May Jesus comfort you and grant you His peace as He fills the void in your heart! Much love, Diane
