Pauline Velarde, 75, passed away on November 22, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents Paul Elias Garcia, Lilly Juanita Ulibarri-Garcia, grandparents Frances Romero-Ulibarri and Jose Aniceto Ulibarri, sister Pauline Garcia and Robert Garcia, and sisters-in-law Annette Garcia, and Cristy Garcia. She is survived by Son Jeff Velarde (Linda) Lisa Velarde (Joel VanValkenberg) her Grandchildren Jennifer Regan (Tommy), Holly, Christopher, and Julia Velarde (Jeremy Coen). She is also survived by brothers Richard (Cynthia), David, Christopher, and Adam Garcia (Jim Lynch), nieces Amy (Bob), Roberta and Stephanie. She is also survived by aunts Della Ulibarri, Shirley Simon, Connie Ulibarri, uncle Slater Simon, and numerous cousins and friends.
Pauline was born on September 23, 1941 in Denver Colorado, and is the third of seven children to pass away. She grew up in the Denver area and graduated from Denver West High School in 1959, and then went on to graduate from Colorado Women’s College with an Associate’s Degree in 1961. Throughout her high school and college career she had a keen interest in theatre and appeared in many school productions. She married in 1962, had two children and focused her efforts on being a Mother. In the early 70’s she went back to Metropolitan State College to finish her Bachelor’s Degree and became an art teacher in 1978. She worked as a substitute teacher in many of the area school districts until her retirement in 2014. Her love of theatre, art, and music became a major influence on the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday December 1, between 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Mt. Olivet in Denver. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 2, at 9:00am at Mt. Olivet in Denver, with burial following immediately. Reception will follow between approximately 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the Knights of Columbus, 4980 West 1st Avenue, Denver, CO 80219.

Our hearts are broken for the Velarde and Garcia families. Pauline was such a sweet and loving person. I don't think I can go to Memphis and stay at the Heartbreak Hotel without you...that was the plan! You will always be missed dear cousin. May you Rest in Peace. We love you cousin!
