Richard Brooks, III Obituary

Richard Brooks III “Rick”, surrounded by his loving family when he passed on June 8, 2018 after a courageous 6 month battle with cancer. Of Magnolia; formerly of Blackwood. Age 64.

Loving dad of Lauri Edmonds and her husband Bruce and Randy Brooks and his wife Karen. Cherished Poppy of his beloved granddaughters Marissa, Lorraine, and Breyelle Edmonds. Son of Randy and Carol (nee Quairoli). Brother of Jane Grek (Mark), Scott (Carol), and Sharon Jacoby (Dan). Also survived by his former wife Linda Brooks and a large extended family with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rick retired from L-3 Communications after a career that spanned RCA, GE Aerospace, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin for 40 years. He loved the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers. Rick was a passionate fan who took his role as coach from the couch very seriously! We are so happy that he was here to see the Eagles win Super Bowl LII.

There will be a visitation from 12 noon to 2pm Wednesday afternoon at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Memorial service 2pm.

Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick’s memory to LUNGevity Foundation, 228 South Wabash Avenue, Suite 700, Chicago, IL 60604 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

I just wanted to say a few words about Rick, since I spent more than half my life with him...
He was a very strong person. He helped me get through a lot of tough times in my life.
He was a hard worker, dependable and loyal. He rarely took time off from work, he liked his job and the people he worked with. He carried himself with much pride.
He had lots to be proud of, but the thing he was most proud of, are his children and his three granddaughters! Rick was very dedicated to them all. Family was very important to him. Which is why I believe that Rick and I were able to remain friends even after our marriage ended. He told me I would always be his BEST friend SORRY Mike!! Lol
Seriously though, I will miss his friendship, his dry sense of humor and most of all his grace. He firmly believed in God and I know he is in Heaven. Rest In Peace. Love you Rick!
