Roger Wichman was born on March 25, 1951 to Harold Martin Wichman and Della Lorena (Feye) Wichman in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was raised on a farm three miles south of Ruthven, Iowa and graduated from Ruthven Consolidated School in 1970. In 1972 he graduated from Waldorf Junior College in Forest City with an AA degree. On July 29, 1972 Roger married his high school sweet heart Jeanine Carpenter Wichman, of Ruthven. They continued to live in Forest City and Roger was a draftsman at Forest City Millwork. In 1973 they moved back to Ruthven to begin farming with Roger's parents. In 1977 Roger decided to go back to college and he graduated from Iowa State University in 1979 with a BS degree in Industrial Education, Industrial Option. He started his MS degree in computer assisted education, and Jeanine finished her degrees at Iowa State. While at Ames Roger worked at the Agricultural Engineering farm and worked on many new farming techniques that are in use today.

In 1981 Roger and Jeanine moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Roger worked for two different micro computer firms until he started his own company in 1986. Roger was the President of Micro Computer Solutions and later Silver Fox Computer Club. Roger did custom software programming and taught individuals and corporate employees at their training faculties and the various companies sites. Many people in the Omaha area can trace their computer knowledge to Roger and his employees. Jeanine ran the office of their family business. In 2004 Roger had an opportunity to become the Director of Education at Hamilton College in Mason City, Iowa, which later became Kaplan University. In 2010 Roger retired from Kaplan University and continued to do programming, which he had still been doing on the side. Roger retired in March of 2014, except he continued to build custom software for his long term client, Four Star Seeds. Jeanine retired from her Mason City job in February, except she continued to run the accounting side of their business.

From March to his death on November 18, 2014, Roger and Jeanine enjoyed traveling in their beloved state of Iowa and traveling out of state to see family and friends.

Roger died suddenly after only a few days of illness. He leaves behind his wife, his sister Wanda Wichman Moore and her husband Harry Moore of Monument, CO, his niece Kristin Moore Waldrop and her husband Michael (Drew) Waldrop, and grand-nephew Lucas Harold Waldrop. He also leaves behind Jeanine's nieces, mother-in-law, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws, aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.

We are so happy that you and Roger visited and spent the night with us a few months ago. Roger always had such an infectious laugh and we got to enjoy that again.
One of my fondest memories was at Kristen and Drew's wedding. We sat together, laughed, and even danced together! We had never done that before.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our deepest sympathies to you and all of the other family members.

Like so many my heart breaks at this news. Roger was a leader in our Luther League group at Zion to which he brought positive energy and great laughter. He and Jeanine made a perfect pair.I remember how eyes lit up when they were around each other. I recall everyone was so pleased when they got engaged. I found an old calendar where I scribbled in the margins Dec. 19, 1971; Roger gave Jeannine a diamond!!!! She ssid," YES!!!!" They lived a wonderful example of what true love and tenderness looks like. I was a few years younger but I knew what they had was the real deal. It was a natural pure joy. They have the kind of bond blessed by God , a bond which no either time nor distance, nor even death can diminish. Love never ends. I am sorry we won't be able to be there in person . Please know we are with you in spirit. May you find comfort knowing he is safe in the arms of his Creator. God's peace to those who mourn and will forever remember Roger. You loved him well which is of course so important . He would be the first to tell you that followed by a chuckle and a hug. Shalom, LaVonne (Salton) and Gary Anderson

Roger and I were classmates and played clarinets beside each other. We always had a good laugh when our clarinet would squeak! My deepest sympathies to all of Roger's family.

Jeanine & Family
I have so many fond memories of Roger that make it seem like only yesterday we were in high school. He was a school classmate & long time friend that I will not forget. His laughter and sense of humor were just two of his many positive traits. I want you to know you are in my thoughts & prayers at this difficult time.
