Ronald Allen, PhD Obituary

Ronald Charles Allen, PhD from Los Angeles, CA passed away Monday at Washington Hospital after battling lung Cancer. He was 73. He is most remembered for his strong love of his family, the well-being of others and his true passion for the medical business. He was a decorated naval serviceman and served 1 tour in Vietnam in 1968, earning such accommodations as the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart Medal.

Ronald is survived by his brother Donald Allen, his two sons, Robert and Ryan (Rahsaana), his 4 grandchildren, Nic, Rodrick, Riley, and Ryder, his sons’ mother, Joan Allen, and so many more cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and extended family that he had touched and had a positive impact on their lives. He resided in Hayward, CA.

Ronald had a true passion for continued education. While serving as an LAPD officer with his younger brother Donald, he put himself through school attending California State University at Los Angeles, and UCLA and eventually obtained his PhD.

Ronald enjoyed coaching football. He coached his sons’ football teams up to high school, and he also enjoyed being a referee for many levels of the sport. He started refereeing games at the Pop Warner level, and eventually transitioned up to the collegiate and NFL levels. He even made contributions to the training of the NFL’s first female referee, Sarah Thomas.

As passionate as he was about his hobbies, to those who knew Ronald best, his true passion after family and the well-being of others, was his business. Ronald LOVED business, and found his passion in the medical industry. Over his career, he held several senior positions with fortune 500 companies such as Stryker and Boston Scientific. Ronald eventually found his niche in regulatory affairs, guiding companies through the process of FDA approvals.

Ronald forever had a huge smile and a joke for everyone, and his uniquely amazing positive spirit will carry on for all of us. He will be forever missed and loved.
