Roy Langston Obituary

Roy Arthur Langston, 78, died in his Florida home on Saturday, June 28, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer and COPD.

Born in Elijah, Missouri, on October 13, 1935, he lived in St. Louis and Jefferson City, Missouri, before retiring to Florida in 1992. Roy was a plant engineer with degrees from Washington University and the University of Missouri. He worked at Granite City Steel and Universal Match in St. Louis, as well as ABB in Jefferson City. Roy was a member of the US Navy, though his pride and passion came from his service with the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He continued to pursue recreational parachuting into his early 50's. Roy was also an avid tennis player and life-long fisherman. He will be remembered for his keen intellect and quick wit that kept a smile on the faces of his family through his final hours.

Roy is survived by his wife, Gail, sister Susan Merritt (Rod), sister Diane Lambert (Paul), daughter Holly Setter (Scott), son Cliff Langston (Jennifer) and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers David and Michael, and his children's mother, Judy (Kellinger).

The family thanks Moffitt Cancer Center, Good Shepard Hospice (Chapters Health) and Central Florida Cancer Institute of Lake Wales. In lieu of a service/flowers, memorials may be sent to Chapters Health, 12470 Telecom Drive, Suite 300 W, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.

So sorry to hear of Roy Arthur's passing. As a child, I was so impressed he was a paratrooper. I can remember him and my father visiting about this at his home near Forest Park and the University. Condolences to all my cousins and family.
