Ruth Holtorf Obituary
Ruth Weber Holtorf died at home surrounded by family on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the age of 95. She was born on December 14, 1921 to Armand and Dorothy (Hensil) Weber in San Jose, CA.
She married her high school sweetheart, Earl, on September 4, 1942 in Fort Dix, NJ, one day before he was deployed for twenty-six months overseas in WWII. Upon Earl's discharge they made their home in Campbell, CA where they raised their three children.
In 1978 they moved to Amador County where they owned and operated Jackson Shell for eight years before retiring.
Ruth enjoyed RVing, sewing, crafting, gardening, and family time. She was a fifty year member of Eastern Star and a member of Jackson Women's Club. She also served as a volunteer for Hospice Thrift Store for many years. Ruth loved her church family at Creekside United Methodist Church and will be greatly missed. Her compassionate and caring nature was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her sisters, Ann Sigel and Virginia Leverton; daughter, Alice Sherman, and her husband Larry, of Rathdrum, ID; sons, James Holtorf, and his wife Ronda, of Ione, CA, and Craig Holtorf, of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Alysia Brewer, of Spokane, WA, Amanda Foth, of Spokane, WA, and Alysa Maleske, of Vacaville, CA; great grandchildren, Zane Brewer, Savanna Brewer, Chloe Foth, Maryn O'Rourke, and Chloe O'Rourke.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Creekside United Methodist Church in Sutter Creek, CA. Interment services will be private, at Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson, CA. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras Counties at P.O. Box 595, Jackson, CA 95642.
