Sidney Singer Obituary
Born Oct. 29, 1924 in Frankfurt, Germany, he was the son of the late Leon & Gitla Kolber Singer.
He retired as Secretary of Civil Service for the State of Michigan. He also retired as a Major in the United States Army where he served in Military Intelligence. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Association and the Hillel Foundation of Athens.
Sidney is survived by his wife, Ina Morgenstern Singer; six daughters- Rosanne Singer and husband Steve Mencher, Gina Singer, Deborah Singer Howard and husband William Howard, Dr. Sandra Singer and husband Otto Muller, Dr. Barbara Singer and husband Jeffrey Bierlein, and Yara Barlev; fifteen grandchildren; his first wife, Doris Fornaci Singer with whom he remained friends; two sisters, Margaret Singer and Paula Orbach; and a brother, Henry Singer.
Graveside service will be conducted Friday 10:30pm at Alexander Cemetery, Hebbardsville with Fred Wiener officiating. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
Military rites will be conducted by K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards at the cemetery.

Sidney was my uncle. When we visited Israel in 1986, he and Ina were our host and tour guide. We traveled all over Israel, Jerusalem, Beersheva, Elat, Mt Hermon, The Dead Sea and Tel Aviv. But we spent lots of time where they lived in Arad, where you could look out over the Negev Desert. Sidney told so many wonderful stories.

At the end of long years in search for what remains of my family, I just find the children of my great uncle Leon, the brother of my grandfather, for as soon as lose you. But I know that we will meet, one day elsewhere.
