Hi, Yi Wei, it's been a year now, but your face is still clear...we still remember you and our class group on Wechat said many nice things about you during the Qing -ming festival , you are lucky on this sense! Our world is no better than the place you went to, so rest in peace!

I want to pay tribute to a wonderful husband, father, and a family man. Yiwei has been a part of my life for twenty plus years, and he continues to be to this day. When he lived in St. Louis, I have fond memories of us playing cards while the children videogamed in the adjacent room, sharing potluck dishes, driving our families on road trips to Florida and Michigan among the many shared destinations we’ve had. Much of this was put on hold when Yiwei moved to Houston a few year ago.
I have no doubt that being away from Jin and children was hard on Yiwei. But between those brief moments of separation, when he flew to St. Louis to catch Sarah or Stanley’s field hockey/soccer matches, Yiwei became a glue that brought his whole family together to bond over the game. Certainly, for me, when he visited St. Louis, life felt richer in his presence.
Yiwei has always been a dedicated person. For instance, his support for Sarah and Stanley’s interest in sports maintains a lengthy and decorated record. I recall, when Stanley was young, that regardless of weather condition and season, Yiwei could be found in the park with Stanley after dinnertime, the two practicing soccer drills. This attitude pervaded his life, which exemplified brilliance through action.
Oftentimes when seeing him, Yiwei would begin conversations with a narrative, in which he stated “story”, “let me tell you guys a story.” Yiwei, I look forward to the next time we can be together, shuffle cards, and you can recount stories of your time apart from us.
Farewell Yiwei. There are only so few people who can leave as deep of an impression as you have left on me, both in life and in passing. I am grateful to have known you in this life. May you rest in peace. We will meet again.

Though I have been out of touch with Yiwei for a number of years, hearing of is passing this week hit me especially hard. I hired him out of college in the late 1990s and have some great memories of those early days working in Q building as part of Monsanto’s Growth Enterprise. Back then our team was chartered to come up with new ideas to develop new business platforms- ours was conductive polymers. Yiwei nicknamed one of the polymers under development “PANDA” .
A few years after I left Monsanto, Yiwei joined me at Crosslink (I have attached a photo below; Yiwei is 4th from the left). As well as being a brilliant synthetic chemist, he was a very kind and considerate individual, happy and fun to work with. No challenge was too great for him to overcome; he always had ideas on how to tackle problems that for some would seem insurmountable. I have worked with many scientists over my career, and he set the bar high.

My deepest condolences to your family. Yiwei was a great colleague, who I admired not only for his scientific abilities but also for being such an amazing human being. I will cherish the few years that I got to know him and work with him. He was incredibly proud of you both, Stanley, and Sarah. I remember the many conversations where he talked about your academic success and successes in your sport activities. May God give you the strength and fortitude as you celebrate his life and legacy. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Yiwei was a great colleague and friend: he was always generous in sharing his knowledge and I learnt a lot from him when we worked together at Monsanto; I will never forget the valuable conversations we had about technology, science, career, and life.
I will always cherish the wonderful memories I have with Yiwei and he will be forever missed.

A loving husband and fully dedicated father, Yiwei is extremely proud of his family. Yiwei and Jin's total commitment to Stanley and Sarah's education and development is most admirable! What a well lived life that inspires all of us!
A fun and great friend/colleague to be around, Yiwei is always energetic and positive with a smile on his face. Among so many fondest memories of all the chats and gatherings we had, the most unique one is going together to Dave Mungenast car dealership to negotiate. We purchased 2 new identical RDX300 which each of our family still owns and exchange tips about after 20+ years!
RIP dear friend!

I am classmate with Yiwei at Peking University for both undergraduate and master program in polymer before he went to US. When I arrived US in January 1987, Yiwei came to UConn and visited me which meant so much to me as I didn´t know anyone and didn´t speaking much English. The kindness, smile, and friendship from Yiwei will stay will us forever. With deepest condolences to Jin, Stanley and Sarah, from Xiaoyan Huang and Wei-Ching Yu

Still cannot believe Yiwei left us so abruptly. He was one of the most interesting individuals among our classmates at PKU, witty yet serious, eloquent yet attentive, enthusiastic yet easy-going. Yiwei was a fighter for what he believed, what he pursued, and what he loved. His passing would only inspire us to continue our efforts to fight against cancer.

I was in shock to hear about YiWei´s death. We went back to high school days when our two families lived in the same apartment building for years. Everyday after school, we would play soccer together till dark. Yiwei is a skillful soccer player and I learned a lot from him. We lost contact after college and have not heard anything from him until now. But even after 40 years, I can still remember his smile.
Yiwei, rest in peace, you will still live in the hearts of many, including mine.

I met Yiwei in 1980 when we entered the college together. Ten years later, we met again at Iowa State. Another five years passed, he got married. Then he became a happy husband and father with two wonderful kids. Everything seemed quite well for him until he shocked us with such sudden leave.
Yiwei,
Time may pass and fade away but memories of you will always stay!We will miss you dearly !

Back in time when we were at Iowa State, I made him believed that he won a big jackpot. He immediately offered me a new car. He was just that kind.
His wisdom and infectious humor certainly will live in my heart!

Yiwei and I were labmates at Iowa State graduate school in Prof. Barton's group. Him, Pang, Mongkol and I spent the most time together in the lab. Besides the daily chemistry discussions, Yiwei was a big time Knicks fan back then, and I was a Bulls fan, we had so much fun watching/talking about NBA games, trashing the opposite team!
Yiwei also loved to play cards, and a group of us usually play at his place all night for one night during the weekend. It was so much fun!
We miss you dearly, our brother, Yiwei Ding!
