Barbara Goff Obituary
Gull Lake
Barbara Ann Goff, 86, of Gull Lake was called back to heaven January 7, 2015.
She was born October 17, 1928 in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter of Clifford and Ila (Carson) Bower. She moved to Battle Creek as a young adult with her husband, Dr. W. Howard Goff, where they raised four children.
Barbara was a beautiful woman inside and out. She loved living at her beloved Gull Lake home. Her natural athletic ability allowed her to enjoy several sports particularly golf and bowling. The Battle Creek community was blessed with an active volunteer who worked at the Calhoun County Cancer Registry, was an auxiliary member at the hospital, a Girl Scout leader, chair of multiple fundraisers, the American Cancer Society and a regular school volunteer.
She is survived by her children; Leslie Oppat of Beaverton, Oregon; David (Patty) Goff of Bellevue; Julia A. (Bill) Van Domelen of Florida; grandchildren, Jason, David and Kelsey Oppat, Brian and Zachary Goff, Lauren Hockett, extended Van Domelen family, dear nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 50 years, Dr. W. Howard Goff, daughter Denise A. Goff, sister Phyllis Jean (Jeanie) Taylor, brothers Clifford C. (Clayton) Bower Jr. and J. William (Bill) Bower.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Shaw Funeral Home. A celebration of Barbara's life will take place 11:30 A.M. Friday, January 16, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating.
Interment, Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family suggests a donation to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, or charity of one's choice.
The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek.

Julie, I realize it has been so many years since I have last seen or spoken to you (High School), however, I was saddened to hear of the passing of your mother several years after. There is no greater pain in life than to lose a parent, but I only hope the wonderful memories you have of your Mom will live in your heart forever and provide you the happiness you had when she was still with you. I am so sorry I did not leave this sooner as I just read the obituary of your wonderful Mom.
I bought your fathers office in Urbandale years ago. Your parents were just the most wonderful couple. Not only did they do everything they could to make my business life great but were ever so kind anytime I had to contact them.
I can't say enough about how very kind and loving your Mom was to me and will never forget your Father and Mother's gracious and sincere effort to provide my family and I with the opportunity to prosper.
Our prayers are with you and your families. You are so very fortunate to have had such wonderful parents with so many memories to carry you till you meet again.

I'm so sorry to here of Barb's passing. Enjoyed the times we voluntered at Westlake and the High School, all the times we played golf together at RCC. What a gracious lady. My thoughts and prayers are will all of her family.

I am so saddened to hear about your mother's passing. She was a very dear friend of my mom (Pat Jones) for many years and I had the pleasure of getting to know her through playing golf at "guest day" at Riverside for several years. Julie, you and I were able to meet and have lunch with our moms a few years ago here in Naples, FL. That was memorable for me. Barb was genuine, kind and a real lady! My mother will miss her dearly. My heart and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
