Dr. Marjorie Jean (Hickman) Lanuti Battle Creek Dr. Marjorie Jean (Hickman) Lanuti, 84, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away, April 2, 2013 at the Hospice of Scotland County in Laurinburg, NC, surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born October 27, 1928 in Ypsilanti, MI, to Dr. Jennings R. and Winifred Hickman. She married her beloved husband, Dr. Frank Lanuti in 1958 and was happily married for 55 years. They moved to Battle Creek in 1965. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, she went to Kalamazoo College on a music scholarship and received her Bachelors Degree in Biology in 1949. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Michigan in 1950 and went on to receive her Medical Degree from the University of Michigan in 1954 as one of only 5 women in the entire class. She was the President of the Calhoun County Medical Society in 1992. In 2004 she received honorary recognition from the Michigan State Medical Society, for 50 years of contributions to the medical field. She was an active member in her church, The First United Methodist Church of Battle Creek, MI and a member of the Sunrise Circle at the church. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She also enjoyed attending Michigan State and The University of Michigan football games with her family. She had a personal hobby with her husband of bird watching and bird feeders. Marjorie is survived by her husband, Dr. Frank L. Lanuti; her sons: Dr. Stephen Lanuti (Laura) of Laurinburg, NC and David Lanuti of Chicago, IL; Her daughters: Cynthia Miceli (Pete) of Barrington, IL, and Deborah Lanuti of Apex, NC. She has 5 grandchildren: Steven, Sarah, Joe, Nathan, and Isabelle. She also has one brother Dr. Daniel (Joanne) Hickman, of Germantown, MD. And, her extended family: Juliet Mullenmeister. Her sister Patricia Noll, of Chelsea, MI, and her parents preceded her in death. Visitation will be held at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Friday, April 12th 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 105 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 13 at the First United Methodist Church, 111 E. Michigan Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49014, officiated by the Rev. Billie R. Dalton. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. Interment will be Monday, April 15 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
