Lewis, Clifford Jerome  
Clifford Jerome Lewis Aka "Soul Medic" age 71, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 22, 2014 at home surrounded by his wife and loved ones. He was born December 6, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Fannie and Robert Bailey Sr.. In 1987, Clifford married the love of his life Joanne Marie Johnson and remained in loving union for 30 years until his death. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours of duty. While in Vietnam, Clifford's duty assignment was Rifle Marksman, Parachutist and Medic. During his tours he was accommodated with three medals including The National Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Clifford affectionately known by his family as Joe Joe was a graduate of Western Michigan University where he received several degrees including his Masters degree in Social work. Clifford was employed at Battle Creek Veteran's Hospital as a Clinical Social Worker for substance abusers. He retired after 28 years of service. He also was a social worker for a program for veterans called the Compensated Work Therapy/Therapeutic Residence Program. Clifford, in his spare time, enjoyed reading, writing and collecting books. He loved playing military video games. His family and friends were his world and he enjoyed spending time with them. Clifford is survived by his wife Joanne Lewis, his daughter Mary (Jimmy Jr.) Sims; son, Foster Johnson; brothers, Darryl (Regina) Bailey, Trallis Bailey, and Allen Bailey (Cassandra); sisters, Elaine (Gregory) Caldwell and Darnella Nunn and host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Fannie Bailey, father, Robert Bailey Sr., brothers Turhan Lewis, Robert Bailey Jr. and Curtis Bailey. A visitation will be held at 11 A.M. followed by a funeral service at 12 noon on Monday December 29, 2014 at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service 375 W. Dickman Rd, Battle Creek, MI 49037. Nouhan, Nancy  
Nancy R. Nouhan Battle Creek Nancy R. Nouhan, age 90, died Saturday December 20, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.   Nancy was born March 2, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN and came to Battle Creek as a teenager.  Nancy  graduated High School in Battle Creek and continued her education at the Leila Hospital, where she became a Registered Nurse.  She was employed at Leila Hospital and also worked as a private duty nurse.  Nancy was a long time member of the Church of God of Prophecy.   Nancy loved music and played guitar, she enjoyed fishing, cooking and playing Dominoes with her many church friends. Nancy is survived by her husband Gordon Nouhan,  daughters, Brenda Lacy , of Lake Wales, FL, Mary Ruffell-Curl of Ft. Worth, TX and Cheryl Kolmonen of Battle Creek, sons, David (Rowena) Nouhan, of San Antonio, TX, Don (June) Sivits, Beaumont, TX, Dick (Louise) Sivits, of Battle Creek, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren .  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Rosie Huskins, Reece Aikins, Vesta  Monaweck, brothers, Clifford, Willis, Ralph and Albert Hall.  The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Treadwell, Richard  
Richard Lynn "Dick" Treadwell Battle Creek Richard Lynn "Dick" Treadwell, age 88, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Monday evening, December 22, 2014 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.  He was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 7, 1926, the loving son of Warren and Gretchen (Losey) Treadwell.  Dick faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater.  Dick married the "Love of His Life", Patricia A. "Pat" Humiston at the Baseline United Methodist Church on October 16, 1948; she survives. He is also survived by three children, James (Colette) Treadwell of Battle Creek, Judy Robertson of Denver, Colorado, and Dave Treadwell of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Treadwell of Battle Creek, and a sister, Jean VanSyckle of Homestead,Florida.  Dick was sadly preceded in death by his son, Paul Treadwell in 2001, and a sister, Jane "Peg" Bieri in 2001.  Dick was a retired Teamster, farmed for many years and enjoyed his John Deere tractors and "tinkering".  He was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and loved spending time with his family.  The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Baseline United Methodist Church, 9617 Baseline Road, Battle Creek, MI 49017 where funeral services to celebrate Dick's life will held at 11:00 a.m., Monday.  Interment with full military honors will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Salvation Army or the Baseline United Methodist Church.  The family is being served by the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com .

Flook, Joyce  
Joyce Marilyn (Wagner) Flook Richland Joyce Marilyn (Wagner) Flook, age 89, of Richland, MI, died Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI, following a brief illness. Joyce, the daughter of Frank C. and Lillian (MacKenzie) Wagner, was born on June 7, 1925 in Battle Creek, MI and was a lifetime area resident.  She was a 1943 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School;attended Michigan State University and graduated in 1969 from the Kalamazoo School of Practical Nursing.  Joyce was a life member of the Preceptor Laureate Zeta Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; had been a volunteer for the Gull Lake Ambulance and volunteered for many years at the Kalamazoo Hospice.  Joyce was a charter member (1957) of St. Ann Catholic Church of Gull Lake; was the Past President of the Ladies Guild of the Church several times and was responsible for the Altar Linens and Flowers for many years.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, but her true passion in life was taking care of her family and all of their friends. Joyce was united in marriage to Harry K. "Bud" Flook on May 18, 1946 in Battle Creek and he sadly preceded her in death on November 8, 1993.  Surviving is her daughter, Marie L. Stech of Richland, MI; four sons, John C. (Katie) Flook of Battle Creek, Edward D. (Debra) Flook of Richland, Michael T. (Julie) Flook of Dowling, MI and David J. (Tamalyn) Flook of Augusta, MI; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a "Special Cousin," Frank (Sue) Wagner of Petoskey, MI.  Joyce was preceded in death by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 26th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, with Father James F. Adams, Pastor, as Celebrant and DeaconMichael A. Carl, Assisting.  Joyce's family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the Church on Friday and will continue Joyce's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Mass in the Church's Social hall. Interment will be next to her beloved husband, Bud in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joyce's honor may be directed to St. Ann Catholic Church.  The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is in charge of all the arrangements. Udell, Twila  
Twila Oneice Udell Bellevue Twila Oneice Udell, 96, of Bellevue died December 21, 2014 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was born January 30, 1918 in Bellevue, Michigan to Lealand and Twila Lottie (Mulvaney) Thompson. Twila was valedictorian of her graduating class from Bellevue High School in 1936.  She worked in the processing department at the Kellogg Company, retiring in 1975.  She married Francis in 1938 and they built their home in Bellevue (by hand) together: a proud accomplishment. She was a member of the Kellogg's 25-year Club and Bellevue's Chatter Club.  She enjoyed sewing, traveling and playing golf and tennis.  She played golf well into her 90's, enjoying retirement in Florida, The Sunshine State. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis in 1992 and brothers, Rex and Egner Thompson; and a grandson, Joe Steele. Twila is survived by her daughters, Sue (Michael) Hack of Battle Creek; Roxelle (Larry) Samarron of Palm Desert, California; son, Norm (Sue) Udell of Rotonda West, Florida; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.   Visitation, 3 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Shaw Funeral Home Lehman Chapel, Bellevue.  Funeral, 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Olmstead officiating.  Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.  Memorials may go to Alzheimer's Association. Wanetta May Watson Athens Wanetta May Watson, age 82 of Athens, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born on December 25, 1931 to John and Arlene (Ling) Watson in Battle Creek, MI. Wanetta graduated from Athens High School in 1953. She was a proud member of the Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians. Wanetta enjoyed  gardening and her pets.She worked for State Farm Insurance in Marshall, MI for 26 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Barbara, Beverly Romonia,Winona and brothers John Jr. and Jim. Brown, Darrell  
Darrell Lavon Brown Age 92, passed away on December 21, 2014 at Emerald Forest Assisted Living in Marshall.  He was born in 1922 to Robert and Ethel (Velie) Brown in Kendallville, Indiana. On August 18, 1942 he married Donna May Farris in Coldwater.  In 2014, Darrell and Donna celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Darrell served in the U.S. Army (1942 - 1946).  Following discharge, he and Donna lived in Coldwater until 1955 when they moved to Tekonsha. Darrell retired in 1981 following 31 years of service with Eaton Manufacturing in Marshall. He was an  active member of Eaton Retirees and a long-time member of the Union Church of Tekonsha.  He was involved in numerous community-service activities, including distribution of food pantry items, government commodities, delivering "Meals on Wheels", and working through the Community Action Agency to assist with operation of the Tekonsha Senior Meal Center.  Darrell served as building inspector for the Village of Tekonsha.  He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Darrell is preceded in death by his wife, Donna, parents, Robert and Ethel Brown, and bothers, Donald Brown and Gerald Brown.  He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Keith) Walbeck of Battle Creek and Kathy (Thurman) Radtke of Ludington; son, Richard (Mary) Brown of Marshall; sister, Marjorie Roush of Angola, Indiana; four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Union Church, 206 W. Randall Street, Tekonsha.  Family and friends will gather for visitation from 12 PM to 1 PM prior to the service.  Guard.
