Benjamin Blake Jones Battle Creek Benjamin Blake Jones, 33, of Battle Creek, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, after passing from this world on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, after a serious stroke Friday, July 27, 2012. He was born in Lake Wales, Florida on July 28, 1979, to Dr. A.J. and Kay (Long) Jones. At the age of four, Ben moved with his family to Battle Creek, where he grew up and was a 1997 graduate of Pennfield High School. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2002 with a degree in Fitness and Wellness. During his time at Grand Valley, Ben was extremely affected by the events of 9/11 and made the ultimate sacrifice to join the United States Army from 2002 to 2006 and 2008 to 2009, during which he served three tours in Iraq. He was currently employed with the Defense Logistics Agency at the Dole, Hart, Inouye Federal Center in Battle Creek; and was scheduled to help a U.S. Marine attachment in Afghanistan with military logistics and supply. Ben was united in marriage to Carol Anne Tabler on June 20, 2005 in Tennessee, after a whirlwind romance. Surviving are his wife, Carol Anne; parents, Dr. A.J. and Kay Jones of Battle Creek; two sisters, Dr. Ashley Jones and Lindsay Jones both of Battle Creek; maternal grandparents, Merle and Ellen Johnson of Wichita, KS; paternal grandparents, Arvil and Anna Jones of Augusta; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Charles Long. Ben loved his truck, spending time with his family at his home, target practice, reading his Nook, and watching movies. He was an avid University of Michigan Football fan and was nuts about his dog, Marley. Ben will be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, infectious smile, and compassionate heart, as well as being known as the gentle giant. At the request of the family, friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where they will be received 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2012, at Faith Baptist Church, 13840 S. Helmer Rd., Battle Creek, MI 49015. Military honors and interment will follow at Ft.
