Carl Censke, 83, died September 9, 2013 at home.

He was born May 10, 1930, the son of Carl and Katie (Golowbeski) in Battle Creek.

Carl worked as an iron worker for Local 340 in building construction until retiring in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 35 years Neva (Lindsay) Censke of Battle Creek; daugter, Ginny (Mike Hutchings) Uptgraft, Deborah Tripp and Heather (Mike) Gerry of Battle Creek; sons, Carl Censke, Jr., of Pahrump, Nevada, Tom (Judy) Censke, David Censke and Michael Censke of Battle Creek; step-sons Chris (Tracy) Vroman and Duane (Sherri) Vroman of Battle Creek.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Thomas Censke and Walter Censke; sister, Louise Lester and a half brother Chet Ryn; two grandchildren and a great grandchild and step-daughter Laura Vroman.

Carl enjoyed buying and selling antiques his whole life and playing cards. He was a caring and giving person, soft spoken and could be counted on as a peace maker.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday September 12, 2013 at Shaw Funeral Home.  Services will take place 1:00 p.m. Friday September 13, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Codde officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to LifeSpan Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
