David W. Gibson

David W. Gibson Battle Creek David W. Gibson passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013. He was born March 4, 1940 to Wayne E. Gibson and Emma V. (Munsell) Gibson in Lansing, Michigan. David was a 1958 graduate of Eaton Rapids High School and attended Michigan State University. He was an insurance adjuster for State Farm Insurance for over 30 years until retiring in 2000. David enjoyed fishing, hunting, sailing his Rhodes Bantam, and gardening at his home. He was a runner and competed in many triathlons. He won a contest in 1960 -"On why I am going to vote republican," and spoke at the 1960 young Republican Convention. He was a member of the Gull Lake Ice Yacht Association for over 30 years and was formerly an assistant Boy Scout's Leader for troop #355. David is survived by his wife, Sandy Gibson of 30 years, of Battle Creek, MI; sons: Richard (Paula) Gibson of Grand Rapids, MI and William (Steve Jenkins) Gibson of Chicago, IL; granddaughter, Pippa Gibson of Grand Rapids, MI; brother: Paul (Earline) Gibson of Arcadia, IN; nieces and nephews: Jeff (Christina) Gibson of Sheriden, Indiana, Rachel (Jeff) Barth of Incline Village, Nevada and Sara (Mike) Swope of North Canton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service from 5:00PM to 8:00PM and Friday, February 8, 2013 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00AM with Chaplin Lon Bouma officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Leila Arboretum, Michael J.
