Delores A. Shulters
Delores Ann Shulters, 80 of Battle Creek passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Bickford Assisted Living and Memory Care.
She was born April 30, 1933 in Ecorse, Michigan the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Chismar) Banick. After Anna's death a few months after Delores' birth, Joe married Mary Hreha who raised Delores and her brothers.
Delores graduated from Jonesville High School and went on to nursing school and received her LPN license. She worked at Community Hospital for many years. She married Charles R. Shulters on August 31, 1957 and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, visiting casinos, was an avid bowler, a University of Michigan
fan and a fan of all Detroit professional sports. She treasured her cats and since a child always had one (or more) at her side.
Delores is survived by her children, Lori (Kevin) VanNortwick of Battle Creek, and Steven (Kim) Shulters of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Trevor (Glynis) Shulters of Redondo Beach, California, Lindsey (Andy) Shulters and Jordyn Shulters all of Omaha, Nebraska; great grandchild, Bradley Shulters; sister, Laurene Russo of Jonesville; brother, Joseph Banick of Warwick, RI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Banick.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 p.m. and 5 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Shaw Funeral Home, 2838 Capital Avenue S.W., where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 61 North 23rd Street, with The Very Reverend Mark Vyverman, V.F. officiating. Entombment, Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial donations may go to Humane Society of South Central Michigan or Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
