Dorothy Marie (Engle) Eason

Dorothy Marie (Engle) Eason Battle Creek Dorothy Marie (Engle) Eason, age 76, of Battle Creek, MI, was called to her eternal home on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence of Battle Creek, following a lengthy illness and surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy, the daughter of Bob and Mae (Hicks) Engle, was born on February 25, 1936 in Belmont, MS. She retired in 1998 after 36 years of faithful service to Post Cereals in the Processing and Packaging Department. Dorothy and her husband, Gene enjoyed traveling especially on cruises. She was an avid shopper and collector, especially of humming birds, elephants and thimbles, but her true passion in life was her family. On October 10, 1953 in Clarksville, TN, Dorothy was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" Eason and they moved to the Battle Creek area in 1954. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Gene; her daughter, Deborah Marie Eason of Sanibel Island, FL; her two sons, Ricky E. (Jackee) Eason of Russell Springs, KY and Rusty D. (Roni Mosteller) Eason of Battle Creek; five grandchildren, Alicia Street, Trevor Eason and Pierce Eason, Nicole Calvin and Eric Wine; and her two brothers, Billie Ray Engle and Jessie W. (Kathy) Engle, both of Ceresco, MI. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Hazel (Eakins) Engle. At the request of Dorothy's family, friends will be received today, Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. The Funeral Service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. James S. Codde, Chaplain of Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice, officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, Emmett Township.
