Eula M. Drain
Eula M. Drain age 86, of Battle Creek, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday February 18, 2014 at the Select Specialty Hospital of Battle Creek. She was born April 21, 1927 in Thomaston, GA to Emage and Alma (Johnson) King. Eula married Bennie G. Drain, he survives. Eula was a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning foods and spending time with her family. Eula's favorite activity was cooking at family gatherings and making sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Eula was a long time member of St. Mark C.M.E Church where she served as President of the Missionary Department and was a faithful member of the choir. Eula's favorite Bible scripture was Psalm 23 and her favorite gospel song was "You Can't Hurry God". Eula had been employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center; Macy's and did domestic work in many area homes. Eula had served as a Foster Grandparent for the Battle Creek Public Schools until her retirement in 2011. She loved helping the children with reading, and other homework assignments. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Drain".
Eula is survived by her husband, Bennie G. Drain; sons, Bennie (Johnnie Mae) Drain Jr. of Battle Creek, and Frank Drain of Battle Creek, daughters, Tricia (John) Cunningham of Southfield, MI, Kristena Drain and Charlene Drain; both of Battle Creek, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a special cousin/sister, Fannie Delaney of Griffin, GA, brother in laws, John (Fannie Lou) Drain of Battle Creek, and Leon (Mattie) Drain of Kalamazoo, sisters in law, Estella Brown, Gussie Gibson, Willie Mae Dowd, and Mary Ann (Clyde) Ferrell, many nieces and nephews, and her devoted caregivers Rosa Mobley and Jleace McDonald. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hugh King, sisters, Martha Young and Lottie King and a niece Carolyn Young.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 485 N. Washington Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the church.
