Geraldine Ruth "Gerry" Love

Geraldine "Gerry" Ruth Love Marshall Geraldine "Gerry" Ruth Love, age 88, of Marshall went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Oaklawn Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Love was born on December 26, 1923 in Tekonsha, Michigan to William and Maude (Winter) Miller. She was life long resident of this area and had been employed as the Secretary/Bookkeeper for Marshall Feed and Grain. Other employment included working as a cook for the family owned Naveo Station in Marshall. She had also worked at Tony's Modern Feed Mill in Tekonsha, Eaton Manufacturing in Battle Creek and as a sale clerk at the Rexall Drug Store in Marshall.In her youth, she had worked as an operator for the phone company. The job Gerry prided herself most at was being a loving and devoted Mother and Grandmother. On September 17, 1977, she married Stuart M. Love. Mrs. Love was a devoted Christian and was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church and its women's circle. For many years she gave financial support to a young man in the Philippines. She and her husband owned a farm in Marshall. Geraldine loved and cared for many types of animals, birds and poultry. Gerry had an extreme love of animals and nature. She loved caring for the new baby chicks, and her dogs, her love she felt for animals was passed down to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Mid-Michigan Poultry Breeders Association, the Michigan Bird Breeders Association and the Pigeon Fanciers. Geraldine loved playing the organ and enjoyed playing many of the old gospel hymns along with some down home country music. She made and shared many hooked rugs with her family. Gerry loved to garden. Gerry also loved to entertain and cook for anyone that came to visit, especially at the Holiday's. She is remembered by her family for her loving and nurturing nature and her willingness to put the needs of others before her own. She is survived by her husband, Stuart; children, Larry (Sharlene) Schaberg of Marshall, Linda (Steve) Blue of Tekonsha and Kathleen (Michael) Hamaker of Marshall; 3 step-children, Linda M. (Hugh) Bramhall of Lebanon, TN, Carolyn B. Love (Mark Pavlak) of Azle, TX and Susan E. Love of Augusta; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and a sister, Mary Finkell of Jackson. She was preceded in death a step-daughter, Lois E. Love; and brothers, Harold Miller, Willard Miller and Wesley Miller. Visitation is at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials are to the Zion Lutheran Church or the .
