Henderson Albert Freeman

Henderson Albert Freeman Battle Creek Henderson Albert Freeman, age 85 of Battle Creek transitioned into eternity on September 3, 2013 at Care Community. He was born on May 14, 1928. The son of Willie M. and Lavinnia (Darden) Freeman in Lafayett Alabama. Henderson served in the United States Army in 1950-1952. He was stationed in Camp Atterbury, Indiana. Henderson worked for the Veteran's Hospital and also retired from Clark Equipment and Battle Creek Public School Transportation. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He also was an avid gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie M. Freeman and Lavinnia (Darden) Freeman; Brothers, Willie T. Freeman and Leon M. Freeman; son, Leroy Finley and grandson Derrick McCracken. He is survived by his wife, Flora May Freeman; his children: Debra L. (Wilbur K., III) Watson, and Henderson M. (Janet) Freeman; four stepchildren, Walter May, Patricia Gatson, Frances Freeman and Brenda Dixon; his grandchildren, Cherie' Rucker, Tamara (LaShawn) Livingston, Erica, Zavion, and Sierra Watson; great-grandchildren, A'Myah Curtis, Nyrie, Mekhi, Jathan and Kaliek Rucker. Henderson is also survived by his brother, Robert Freeman of Tuskegee, Alabama and a sister, Mamie Lockett of San Francisco Ca. He is also survived by his former wife, Magnolia Freeman of Kentwood, MI. Services will be held 12 Noon Monday, September 9, 2013 with an 11:00 a.m. Family Hour at the First Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 370 Capital Avenue, S.W., Battle Creek, MI, with Pastor Craig Tatum, officiating. Friends may view 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the the church. Interment with Military Honors will be following services at Memorial Park Cemetery, 2435 Territorial Road in Battle Creek, MI.
