John Thomas Brown Devereaux John Thomas Brown, a longtime resident of Devereaux, Michigan, formerly of Albion, passed away January 7, 2014 at Arbor Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Spring Arbor, Michigan. John (Tom) was born December 22, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois at Chicago Lying-in Hospital. He was the son of Benjamin David and Jean Ellen (McCredie) Brown. In July of 1943, Tom graduated from Cornwall on the Hudson Military Academy, New York, New York. Tom Enlisted in the Navy shortly thereafter and served in World War II
. On July 26, 1947, he was married in Albion to Joanne Sears, daughter of Albion residents Leon Arthur Sears and Gladys Ellen Reber. He was employed as a Claims Adjuster for 35 years for AAA Insurance in both Jackson and Albion. He also worked at the Albion Recorder Newspaper running the Printing Press for many years and also worked at Bob Frahm Chevrolet in Albion as a Porter for a number of years. He was a former member of the Springport V.F.W Adams-Rockey Post. His hobby was his family. He is survived by his wife Joanne of 63 years and four children, Thomas (Victoria) Brown of Albion, MI; Teri Lusk (Ron Minder) of Parma, MI; Marjorie (Guy) Lawton of Springport, MI; and Kevin (Elizabeth) Brown of Mason, MI. Also surviving are 8 granchildren Ben (Anita) Brown, Mike (Valerie) Brown, Ashley (Cody) Fulton, Becky Toncray, Jessie Lawton, Karac Brown, Torin Brown, and Lacy (Ben ) White; 12 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild. He was preceded in death by Grandchildren Shay and Kristy Rowe, children of Teri Lusk. According to his wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place at a later time.
