Kenneth Duane DeLano

Kenneth Duane DeLano East Leroy Kenneth "Ken" DeLano, 65, of East Leroy, died April 26, 2013 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born April 6, 1948, the son of Duane and Thelma (Kellem) DeLano in Battle Creek. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Battle Creek Central, where he proudly served active duty and also spent four years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Ken is survived by his wife of 42 years Olga (Leon-Padron) DeLano, daughter Jennifer DeLano of East Leroy; son Chad (Melissa) DeLano of Fairview, Tennessee; mother Thelma DeLano of Urbandale; sister Linda (Steve) Brady of Dowling; grandsons Everett and Cody DeLano of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his father Duane DeLano in 2010. He was a loving family man who had many interests. Ken enjoyed reading, especially mysteries. He was an outdoor person who liked to hunt and fish, he also enjoyed traveling in the U.S. Ken was a member of the Kellogg's 25-Year Club. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Shaw Funeral Home. A memorial celebration for Ken will take place at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 3, 2013 at North Athens Baptist Church with Pastor Marvin Savola officiating. A private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial donations may go to Good Samaritan Hospice In-Home Care or North Athens Baptist Church.
