Lynnwood H. "Woody" Bush Jr.

Lynnwood H. "Woody" Bush, Jr. Battle Creek Lynnwood Harley "Woody" Bush,Jr., 86, of Battle Creek, died April 18, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born July 31, 1926, the son of Lynnwood H. "Pete" and Ruby Laverne (Stong) Bush in Battle Creek. Woody graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947 as a field artillery sergeant. When he returned to Battle Creek he went to work for Michigan Bell Telephone until he retired in 1984. He was active with the Boy Scouts for much of his life. Woody was a past Scout Master of Troop 352 a committee chairman and Assistant District Commissioner. He was the recipient of the Silver Beaver and Award of Merit. Woody was also a member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers and the American Legion Post #54. Woody is survived by daughter, Kathy-Sue (Greg) Dunn of Battle Creek; son, Ronald (Deb) Bush of Powell, Wyoming; grandchildren, Suzanne Dunn, Bud (Sara) Dunn, Colter Bush and Leigh Bush. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Bush in 2012; and his parents. Family will receive friends from 11:00-11:30, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Shaw Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment, with military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta.
