Marvell Prince, age 82, died Saturday February 15, 2014 at his home.  Marvell was born January 10, 1932 in Toomsuba, Mississippi to Ernest and Hattie (Parker) Prince and came to Battle Creek with his family in 1951.  Marvell served in the Korean War with the US Army.  He had been employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center of Battle Creek, for 32 years, retiring in 1980.  Marvell was a devote member and Elder of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses on Morgan Rd until his health failed.  He enjoyed gardening with his wife as long as his health allowed. He loved  Bible study, watching old western movies and was known for his great sense of humor. 

Marvell was a devoted family man  and  is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Ella Smith, a daughter, Vera Prince, a son, Dennis Prince, both of Battle Creek, sister, Ella Rose Stuart of Los Angeles, CA and a host of nieces and nephews.  Marvell was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Clarice Chappell, Bessie Lofton, Minnie Walker, Kathleen Miller, Leola Lee, and Corine Johnson, brothers, Robert Prince, Tevester Prince, and Bobby Lee Prince. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.Tuesday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.  Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Please visit Marvell's webpage at www.bachmanhebble.com
