Mary Kathryn Latta

Mary Kathryn Latta Battle Creek Mary Kathryn Latta, 83, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, September 29, 2012 surround by her children. She was born June 23, 1929 in Lagrange, IN the daughter of Elmo and Gertrude (Cool) Sams. Mary was employed for 42 years at the Weston Biscuit Company (making Girl Scout Cookies) until her retirement in 1989. Mary Kathryn Sams was united in marriage to Eugene R. Latta on January 30, 1947 in Battle Creek. Eugene preceded her in death on August 6, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her; daughter, Diane; son, Gordie; parents; a sister and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Elmo (Christine) Latta of Battle Creek; three daughters, Mary K. Goheen (Patti Dowding) of Bellevue, Gerry (Robert) Greenfield of Ceresco, Treasa (Joe) Wharton of Battle Creek; eleven grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren; siblings, Willidean (Jack) Munn, Greta (Chuck) Wedel, Sue (Gene) Eldred; and her dog "Missy". Mary was a member Weston Biscuit Co. 25 Year Club, AFLCIO member, and Lighthouse Village in Homer. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, dice, cards, and gardening and enjoyed her winters in Texas. Friends will be received at from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek. A chapel service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev Dr. James M. Gysel officiating.
