Richard Dean Anderson, 89, formerly of Reading, passed away Saturday (6-08-2013) at Bronson Battle Creek.  He was born February 11, 1924 in Reading MI to Paul C. and Willa (Cruson) Anderson and graduated from Reading High School in 1941.  He earned his bachelors degree and served in the US Navy during WWII as a Pharmacist's Mate Third Class in the South Pacific Marshall Islands.  Mr. Anderson worked for Trans-American Insurance Company, covering northern lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.  He was a past member and deacon  of Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord, current member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, and he belonged to the National Wild Turkey Federation and Gaylord Sportsman's Club. Dean was a member of the American Legion post #122 in Wolverine, Mi, and the Lutheran men's league. He also enjoyed playing golf, playing euchre with his friends, mushroom hunting trout fishing and being outdoors, Dean loved baseball and working crossword puzzles, reading his Bible, and spending time with his family.

On August 24, 1946 he married Helen (Donbrock) and she preceded him in death in 2004.  Survivors include 2 daughters, Linda (Joe) Ratti of Augusta; Sandy (Tony) Snyder of Battle Creek; 2 sons, Rick (Patti) Anderson of Wolverine; John (Jodi) Anderson of Wolverine; daughter-in-law, Glora Anderson of Kentucky; sister, Nancy (Gene) McMurtry of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, son Dennis Anderson, and 2 sisters, Joanne Fink and Bobbie Dosboy. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am, at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Reading.  Interment will follow in West Reading Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.    Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Lutheran Church, Marian Burch Adult Day Care in Battle Creek, Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord, or a .
